Hi, my name is raphaela.
Here’s a little bit about myself …
Originally from Austria, I moved to California 11 years ago, embarking on a journey that would profoundly shape my personal and professional life. It’s been the best time. I’m in the process of moving back to Europe, excited for this new chapter and opportunities.
My professional journey reflects my curiosity and passion for exploring a variety of fields. While I enjoy diving into new opportunities and learning across disciplines, once I commit to something, I give it my full energy and focus. This blend of adaptability and dedication allows me to approach each challenge with creativity and purpose.
In December 2024, I completed a certification in Project Management, which has been an incredible learning experience. It connected a lot of dots for me, reaffirming my strengths in planning, execution, and building strong relationships with people. The certification also provided me with valuable tools to improve time management, risk assessment, and resource allocation, while sharpening my skills in team coordination and stakeholder communication. These insights have given me a stronger foundation to lead projects effectively and confidently.
My academic path culminated in December 2022 with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Global Studies and Photography. Prior to that, I earned a degree in Marketing and Business Management, which has complemented my passion for sustainability and creative problem-solving.
Following graduation, I ventured into entrepreneurship, founding a business dedicated to children and the environment. My team and I created a weekly outdoor club where young minds could connect with nature through activities like emotional calming exercises, sustainable art projects, and environmental stewardship. Another arm of the business supported families in transitioning to sustainable living, focusing on home organization, meal planning, and energy efficiency. Visa restrictions limited the lifespan of my business, but it remains one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
I’ve also worked as an ESG Analyst, where I enjoyed implementing and analyzing environmental, social, and governance practices.
Although in recent years I have dedicated my time to children and the environment, my professional career began in mechanical engineering and quality management back in Austria before I made the leap to California for what I initially planned as a gap year as an au pair. I guess all this showcases my diverse interests.
Beyond my professional and academic pursuits, I remain deeply committed to service. I volunteer in the photo lab at SJSU and for the Make a Wish organization, constantly seeking ways to give back. In my free time, I indulge in surfing, hiking, backpacking, and cherishing moments with my close-knit community.
As I approach this new chapter, I am eager to continue driving impact in the sustainability sector, where my broad interests align with my mission: to create a better, more sustainable world.
